Three Promotions Announced at Hudson Valley Community College

Three Hudson Valley Community College administrators were recently promoted to new positions.
Penny Hill was appointed vice president for community, professional and workforce development. Hill, who has worked at the college for more than ten years, was previously the lead administrator at the college’s Malta extension center and most recently served as the dean of economic development and workforce initiatives. In her new role, she will supervise the Office of Workforce Development and the Office of Community and Professional Education, which provide non-credit, short-term courses and programs that serve individuals and organizations throughout the region. Hill is a Hudson Valley Community College alumna and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany and Master of Business Administration from Russell Sage College. She has worked at Hudson Valley since 2011.
Ian LaChance was promoted to assistant vice president of student affairs and will continue in role of dean of enrollment services. He previously served as registrar, and earlier as the college’s associate registrar. In his new role, LaChance will support the vice president for student affairs and lead division-wide projects while maintaining oversight of various enrollment offices. LaChance earned a bachelor’s degree from Roger Williams University and a master’s degree from the University at Albany. He has worked at Hudson Valley Community College since 2005, and in 2017 he received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
Courtney Lamport was promoted to executive director of the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation. She previously served as the college’s chief advancement officer and director of external partnerships and economic development. In her new role, Lamport will seek external resources and grants to promote the college’s educational programs and services. In addition to her work with the Foundation, she will oversee the Alumni Association’s programs and events. Lamport earned an associate degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, a bachelor’s and master’s degree from SUNY Oneonta. She has worked at the college since 2021.
All three promotions were announced at the January meeting of the college’s Board of Trustees and take effect on Feb. 1, 2023.
